Studying Chinese is literally discovering new horizons, learning new language, its particular writing system and acquiring the modern Chinese language in order to use it fluently in both reading and writing. Those who are gifted with the ability to learn foreign languages and who love to discover new cultures will find here answers concerning intercultural communication based on excellent knowledge of the Chinese language and culture.
The undergraduate program is constructed in a way that students start to learn Chinese language from the very beginning and after three years obtain the language abilities on B2 level, due to the high number of hours dedicated to improve language competences. Moreover, the language courses offer the wide context of the traditional and modern Chinese culture. In order to practice the acquired skills in everyday life, students have also the possibility to obtain a one-year scholarship in mainland China and Taiwan or participate in one of the summer courses currently offered by Chinese and Taiwanese universities.
The postgraduate program is constructed to teach students on the academic level how to use their language and scientific competences moreover, to develop their passion for further research. The stress has been put on translatology, thus it involves the nature of the social, cultural and economic environment which will help the students after their graduation to be independent and effective on the work market. Graduated students can find employment in such domains as various sectors of translations, cultural institutions, as experts for the Chinese cultural circle in the public and private, economic and political institutions, and foreign services.
